He was united in marriage to Nettie Jane Whitehurst January 2, 1898 and to this union were born five children, namely: Elvie and Elzie Chapman, Gladys Williams, Ressie Elliott, and Opal Williams, who together with his wife, Nettie Jane, and a sister Myrtie Shanks survive him.
He was a member of Zoar Methodist Church for a number of years, working faithfully in the interest of the church, even attending services last Lord's Day.
Besides immediate family, 12 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren, together with a host of relatives and friends, mourn their loss.
