Annie Ness was born at Gran, Hadeland, Norway on 7 Apr 1873 to parents Hans Olson and Agnetha Hansen Hvinden. She was baptized in Apr 1873 by Rev. Vangensten and confirmed in the fall of 1888 by Rev. Reganger in the Gran Church. A few months after confirmation at the age of 15 years she came to the United States and for about 3 years lived with her cousin Egbert Gilbertson at Kindred, ND. She then came to Wells County where she lived with her brother, Iver Hvinden. She worked for a short time at the Indian Agency at Fort Totten. On 30 Jan 1892 she was united in marriageto Albert Liudahl by Rev. H. O. Blegan at the church which is now known as the Aanderud School. Her married life began at Oberon where Mr. Liudahl worked for Abram Baldwin, pioneer machine dealer. While at Oberon they also engaged in the Hotel business for a short time. In 1895 they moved to Minnewaukan where Mr. Liudahl served 8 years in the court house as County Auditor and County Treasurer. They moved back to South Viking Township in Benson County in 1903 to live on Mr. Liudahl's farm which he homesteaded in 1886.

In 1906 they moved to Maddock where they lived three years during which time Mr. Liudahl was cashier of the Farmers State Bank. In 1909 they moved back to their farm in Viking where they continued to live until 1915. Mr. Liudahl passed away on 21 Dec 1915.

In 1917 she moved to Maddock where she resided until her death on 5 Sep 1946.

Albert and Annie were the parents of six children. Alvin Liudahl of Maddock, Henry Liudahl of Hamberg, Mrs. M. M. Camrud (Alma) of Devils Lake; Theodore of Maddock, Oscar of Salem, OR and Tina who passed away in infancy at the age of two years.

On 11 Jun 1921 she was united in marriage to J. M. Ness by Rev. A. MN. Orwall at Maddock, ND. The couple resided in Maddock until she was taken to Devils Lake Hospital 2 months ago. Mrs. Ness was a member of the Viking Lutheran Church and it's ladies aid being one of the early members and taking an active part until her health would not permit her to do so any longer.

Funeral services were conducted at the Viking Lutheran Church on Tuesday 10 Sep 1946 with Rev. G. R. Estrem officiating.

Mourning her death are her invalid husband, Jens Ness, one daughter, four sons, 24 grandchildren, 2 sisters, Mrs. Gust Nelson (Marie) and Miss Lena Hvinden of Maddock and one brother, Christ Hvinden of Maddock. She is also survived by six step children. She was preceded in death by four brothers.

Pallbearers were six grandchildren: Ardell, Lester, Virgil and Alton Liudahl, James and Ivan Camrud. Burial in Block 2 Plot 10.
