Andreas Hvinden was born in Torpen Land, Norway on 28 Sep 1858 to parents Christian and Agnette Hvinden. He was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith while in Norway. On 24 Jul 1878 he was united in marriage to Martha Gulbrandson by Rev. Lokken. In 1882 he emigrated to America to make a home for his family, coming to Spring Grove, MN and was employed on various farms there for a few years. Two years later his wife and two small daughters, Annie and Ingeborg came alone to America to join their husband and father. On their voyage across, Ingeborg contracted measles and upon their arrival at Spring Grove passed away. They resided in Spring Grove until 1893 when they came to North Dakota and settled on a homestead in Norway Lake Township, Wells County, ND where he has since made his home. He has been in good health until about two years ago and since that time he has been confined to his bed most of the time. On Tuesday Jun 28 1941 his illness took a turn for the worse and he passed away on Monday afternoon, 14 Jul 1941 at 3:00 p.m. at the age of 82 years, 10 months and 16 days. His wife had passed away on 12 Mar 1938.
