MRS. J.K. GROSS DIED CHRISTMAS MORNING
Mrs. Jennie Dimond Gross, wife of J. K. Gross and of a well known pioneer family of this county, passed from this life on Christmas morning at about 10 o'clock at the home of her daughter Mrs. Frank King in Mayfield township. Mrs. Gross, who was 83 years of age with her husband who survives at 84 years of age, had been making their home the last two years with their daughter. Her death came after gradually failing health due to the infirmities of her advanced years. Mrs. Gross possessed in marked degree those sterling practical traits, which make up a life of real service. She earned the esteem of all and the love of those near to her, so many of whom have now passed on to the Great Beyond. Besides her husband, she leaves surviving their two children: Mrs. Nellie King of Mayfield and James Gross of Rockford. The funeral services were held at 10 o'clock this Tuesday morning at the Kingston Methodist church, and the interment was in the family lot in Kingston cemetery.
Note: The Dimon family bible (1843)record indicates that Sarah Jane "Jennie" Dimon was born February 23, 1838 at Chemung co., New York a daughter of James Dimon and Cyntha Vandeburgh and the family came to DeKalb co., Illinois in 1852 and settled at Mayfield.
