Mrs. John A. Champlin.
Mrs. John A. Champlin died at her home in Fountain Green [Township], Thursday, April 30, 1914, aged 61 years and 11 days. She was a daughter of Elliot [sic] and Elizabeth Alton and was born near LaHarpe, April 19, 1853. She was married to John A. Champlin March 6, 1873, who survives with two of their five children, viz. Dr. Charles A. Champlin, of Hope, Ark., and Mrs. Perle Curry, of Denver, Ill. She had been in failing health since the first of the year. Besides the immediate family, two brothers, Leonord [sic] and Marcus Alton, of this vicinity, and a sister, Mrs. Eliza Vincent, of Kansas City, Kansas, survive her.~John Champlin, according to his 1921 biography, remained on his farm in Fountain Green Township until the fall of 1914.
