Benjamin Slane Sr was born in 1773 in Kildress Parish, County Tyrone, Ireland to Daniel & Nancy Ann McDonell Slane. He came to America with his parents and 4 older brothers around 1770-1775. His father Daniel first appeared in Lancaster County, PA in 1778. His mother died somewhere in Pennsylvania between 1778 and 1783, probably as a result of the birth of the youngest child Jane born about 1778-1779. His father married Anna B Caudy in about 1784 after reaching Hampshire County, Virginia.
