Robert E. Cary, 73, of Springfield died Sunday, Jan. 26, 2003, at St. John's Hospital.
He was born Sept. 29, 1929, in Springfield, the son of James L. and Clara L. Cary. He married Evelyn M. Ponds in 1955; she died in 1998.
Mr. Cary worked for Allis-Chalmers as a spray-painter for 30 years and retired when the plant closed.
Survivors: two sons, Kenneth R. (wife, Teri) and Michael D. (wife, Shelley) Cary, both of Springfield; two stepsons; a brother; several sisters; several grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
