Mr. Tilton was born November 4, 1908 and died Monday, October 9, 2006 in Shreveport, Louisiana. He was a retired auto and truck mechanic, having been owner of Tilton's Garage in the late 40's and the early 50's and later retiring from International Harvester Company/Craig Truck and Equipment Co.
Mr. Tilton was preceded in death by his parents; his wife of 70 years, Mayo Addison Tilton; sons Eugene R. Tilton and Benjamin J. Tilton; daughter Helen M. Tilton; son-in-law Charles E. Towns; two grandchildren Jeffrey B. Tilton and Glen R. Tilton; and seven brothers and two sisters.
He is survived by sons Paul V. Tilton and wife JoAnn, Dan R. Tilton and wife Peggy and daughters Hilda M. Towns, Betty L. Baker and husband George, Janie T. Jones and husband Charlie, and daughter-in-law Glendell Tilton. "Papaw" and "Big Papaw", as he was so fondly called, also will be greatly missed by eleven grandchildren, twenty-three great grandchildren, and one great great grandchild.
