There is a discreptency in the year date that Joseph Anderson Edwards died. His tombstone reads 1936. His obituary published in The Stratford Star & quoted from here states 1937

Funeral services Held in Stratford

Last rites were conducted here Wednesday for Judge Joe A. Edwards, who served the prople of Garvin county in Public office for many years. Judge Edwards died at his home here late Monday after a critical illness of 4 days.
Services were conducted in the First Methodist church here at 10 a.m. by Rev. Fred J. Cox, pastor of Trinity Baptist church, of which Judge Edwards was a member, & at 2:30 p.m. in the Methodist church at Stratford, his former home. Rev Cox also conducted that service.
Burial was made in the McGee cemetery, of Stratford.
Judge Edwards completed 8 years on the county court bench of Garvin county, 2 years ago.Before that, while yet a resident of Stratford, Oklahoma, he served 4 years in the state senate & 1 term in the state legislature.
He was elected to the legislature in 1012 & after a 2 year term, was chosen senator in 1914. He was elected county judge in 1917 & was re-elected at each election until the campaign of 1934.
Judge Edwards was a native of Birmingham, Ala, where he was born May 2, 1858. He had been a resident of Pauls Valley since his election as county judge 10 years ago. Since retiring from the bench, he has practiced law here.
He is survived by his wife & 9 children, 5 sons & 4 daughters. 3 children died in infancy.
The sons are Joe jr., of Kansas City; Jake of Guthrie, Fred & Cecil of Dallas, Texas & Floyd of Eldorado, Kansas. The daughters are Mrs Thena Griffin & Mrs. Bessie Eldridge, of Cushing, Oklahoma, Mrs Ethal Carleton, of Stratford, Oklahoma & Mrs. Alta Manley of Arkansas City, Kansas.
12 stepchildren also survive. They are John Strickland, Oklahoma City, Homer Strickland Stratford, Bill Strickland Vinita Strickland, Tom, Gus, & Woodrow Strickland, Pauls Valley, Willard Strickland, W.S. Navy, Mrs Meds Edwards, Dallas, Texas, Mrs. Ada Mae Reynolds, Stratford, Mrs. Lucy Richardson, Maud, Mrs Jewel Ditman, Oklahoma City & Mrs. Malissa Stranahan Oklahoma City.
There are 24 step grandchildren. Judge Edwards was married to Mrs. Carrie Strickland of Stratford in 1921 following the death of his first wife Anna Lorinda Gardner Edwards.
Other survivors are 25 grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren, & one brother W.C. Edwards of Ada.
Judge Edwards joined the First Baptist Church of Pauls Valley in 1929. Following his conversion he was baptized by his grandson, Gus Carleton, now pastor at Commanche.
Later he joined the Trinity Baptist church here, & a month ago was elected to the board of trustees in that church. He was a Mason.
The County Commissioners ordered the court house closed from 10a.m. until noon Wednesday out of respect for the late county judge. Pauls Valley Daily Democrat.

He came to Oklahome from Etowah County, Alabama.He married Anna Lorinda Gardner March 11, 1883 in Illonois Bend, Texas on the banks of the Red River & they had 11 children. Anna Lorinda died in the great flu epidemic in 1918. He remarried to Mrs Caroline Strickland widow of Herbert Hershal Strickland in 1921 at Stratford, Oklahoma. Joseph Anderson served in the Oklahoma State Senate from 1914-1918. He served as County Judge for Garvin County, Oklahoma from 1927-1935. His picture hangs in the Oklahoma State Capital Building.
