Services for Mrs. Bessie E. Eldridge, 66, of 1514 E. Main were held in the First Baptist Church of Cushing, Oklahoma. The Rev. Lewis G. Prince of Tulsa, Oklahoma conducted the service. As requested by the family, Mrs. Lynn Faling & Mrs. Ted Hancock sang, "Does Jesus Care" & the Rev. Prince sang "Pearly White City" as a solo. Miss Joyce Clopton played the organ accompaniment.

Pallbearers were Grady Grimes, Lloyd Escott, Herman Herring, Joe Leftwich, Ralph Moffeit, & Homer Carver.

A large floral offering banked the front of the church & many relatives & friends attended the service to show the high regard held for the deceased & her family in the community. The Ruth Bible Class attended the service in a body.

Mrs. Eldridge was born @ Illinois Bend, Texas, Aug 27,1889 & was married to J.D. Eldridge @ McGee, Oklahoma in the Indian Territory in 1906. The couple came to Cushing in December of 1925 & for several years she & her husband owned & operated the Eldridge Cafe. Until January 1955, she operated the Eldridge Hotel. After retiring, she moved to the home of her dughter, Mrs. R.C. Billingsley, 1514 E Main. She was an active member of the First Baptist Church, the Ruth Bible Class, & the W.C.T.U.

Survivers are one son, Sim A. Eldridge of Cushing; 4 daughters, Mrs. Ress Adams & Mrs. R.C. Billingsly of Cushing, Mrs. Clyde Boyles of Vinita, & Mrs. H.C. Sutton of Stillwater, four brothers, Joe E. Edwards of Topeka, Kansas
Floyd Edwards of Omaha, Neb., Cecil Edwards & Fred Ol edwards of Dallas, Texas; 2 sisters, Mrs. J.D. Manley of Purcell & Mrs. Thena Griffin of Enid, 5 grandchildren & other relatives.

Burial, under the direction of the Davis Funeral Home, was in the Fairlawn cemetery beside the grave of her husbnd who preceded her indeath in February of 1947.
