Gladys P. Gilson, 89, Brainerd, died Monday, Jan. 14, 2002, at Cuyuna Regional Medical Center in Crosby.

She was born Dec. 8, 1912, in Garrison to Joseph Lee and Lillie Mae (Glass) Avery. She married Abraham W. Gilson. She was a member of the Brainerd Garden Club, Sons of Norway, Crow Wing County Historical Society, Birthday Club and Riverside Union Church.

Survivors include two daughters, Marlene Magnen, Brainerd, and Judy Morse, Pengilly; three sons, Calvin Gilson, Fort Ripley, David Gilson, Brainerd, and Russell Gilson, Monticello; 27 grandchildren; many great-grandchildren; a sister, Ethel Satre, Brainerd; and two brothers, Levert Avery, Baxter, and Ralph Avery, Brainerd.

Her husband; a grandson; six sisters, Ruth Davis, Lillian Somerville, Charlotte Avery, Dorothy Eddy, Hazel Magnan and Mabel DeRosier; and two brothers, Jason and Roy Avery, died earlier.

Services will be 11 a.m. Thursday at Riverside Union Church (new location) in rural Brainerd with Pastor Harvey Peterson officiating. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery.

Friends may call from 5-7 p.m. Wednesday at Halvorson-Johnson Funeral Home in Brainerd and an hour before services Thursday at the church.
