Plymouth Post - May 17, 1900
Mrs. Henriette Eberhardt nee Osius, wife of the old and well-known settler Mr. Michael Eberhardt, was found dead in bed Tuesday morning. She had been ailing for some time already. It appears that a heart attack was the cause of death. She was born March 4, 1825 in Vogelsburg, Sachsen-Weimar, and had reached the age of 75 years, 2 months and 11 days. In the year 1849 she married Mr. Michael Eberhardt in Germany and came to America with him in 1859. She and her husband are the oldest and respected residents of this area. On their arrival here they came directly to Town Plymouth and settled on a farm about three miles southeast from here where they lived for many years, until they moved to another house, also their property, a short distance north of their old home, and the farm was taken over by their son, Oscar. She is survived by her husband and 4 children: Mrs. Chas. Suckow, Barton, Wis., Mrs. Otto Krauss and Mrs. Wm. Langjahr here in the city, and Mr. Oscar Eberhardt living on the father's farm; as well as fifteen grandchildren; a brother, Mr. Lorenz Osius, and a sister, Mrs. Fuerste in Gutenberg, Iowa. Mr. Fritz Osius who lives here, is a nephew of the deceased. The funeral will be held here Friday afternoon. Pastor Proehl will officiate.
