Marjorie Clerc was born in Nebraska, the 8th child in a family of 10 children. Around the age of 15 she moved to Michigan where her older sister was already living. On January 31, 1942 she married Richard L. Cassiday and they raised 6 children in Midland. She worked at various jobs before her children were born and after they had reached adulthood. She loved traveling out West and the years spent in Florida.
