Mrs. Jemae Borders Bentley, 93, of 211 Kentucky Drive, Calhoun died Saturday, Dec. 29, 2001, at 2:55 a.m. at Gordon Hospital, following several months of declining health. She was born in Gordon County on July 22, 1906, daughter of the late Dr. Dennis J. and Emma Stewart Borders. She was the oldest member of Mt. Pleasant United Methodist Church, where she served as church pianist. She was a devoted homemaker, a graduate of Reinhardt College, and a former school teacher and lunchroom dietician. She was preceded in death by her husband, Pet Floyd Bentley, in 1966; a daughter, Betty Gail Faulkner; two sons, Jimmy and Ronnie Bentley; and brothers and sisters, Ford, Kathleen, Jess, and Alice Pearl. Survivors include a son-in-law, Charles Faulkner of Calhoun; two daughters-in-law, Marie Stewart Bentley and Linda Bentley, both of Calhoun; seven grandchildren, Charles Faulkner IV, Shane Faulkner, Leslie Faulkner, Mike Bentley, Marva Allen, Melanie Bentley Tinch, and Ron B. Bentley Jr.; and 10 great-grandchildren. Funeral was Monday, Dec. 31 at 2 p.m. from Mt. Pleasant United Methodist Church, with the Revs. Brian Clark and Al Turnell officiating. Burial was in the family lot of the church cemetery. Pallbearers were Bobby Davis, Larry Bentley, Ford Borders, Harry Borders, Mike Tinch, and Bennie Joe Whittemore. Honorary pallbearers were members of Mt. Pleasant United Methodist Church. The family request that in addition to flowers, those wishing to may make contributions to Mt. Pleasant United Methodist Church. Thomas Funeral Home of Calhoun was in charge of arrangements.
