Third born son of George and Hulda Baker. James and John died on the same day in 1882 as young children from diphtheria.

BAKER-In Wet Mountain valley, Custer county, August 22, 1882, John L. Baker, aged 2 yrs., 4 mo. and 21 days, and James Baker, aged 10 months, sons of Mr. George W. and Mrs. M. Baker.
Services at the grave, Rosita, on the 23rd, by the Rev. Francis Byrne. The Lord gave and the Lord hath taken away. Of such is the kingdom of heaven.
