He was born March 24, 1906, in Ponca, Neb., to William Swan and Nellie Grace Vanderbilt Beller. His family moved to the Flathead Valley in 1909, and he received his early education here. As he was the youngest of nine children he helped his family on the farm and also helped rear two nephews and one niece who lived with them. He graduated from Flathead County High School in 1924. He married Edna Amanda Hoylman Oct. 7, 1939, and they had three children.
He worked periodically for the highway department in his early years, then entered into the real estate business in 1946. He continued in real estate until he was in his 70s. He lived in Kalispell until Dec. 24, 1996, when he moved to Crista Nursing Center in Shoreline, to be near his daughter and son and grandchildren.
His great interests were vocational agriculture and journalism. He was a member of the Christian Center Assembly of God Church and was a board member emeritus. He enjoyed gardening, fixing cars, reading, and crossword puzzles.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Edna Amanda and all his brothers and sisters.
He is now survived by two daughters, JoAnna Nichols Schoenknecht of Quilcene, Wash., and Clara Jane Seaman Foster and husband, Benjamin, of Scotts Valley, Calif.; son Robert W. Beller and wife, Faye, of Renton, Wash.; eight grandchildren and six great- grandchildren; one niece, Eunice McKinley of Kalispell, and three nephews.
Funeral services will be Thursday, at 1 p.m. at the Christian Center with the Rev. Ross officiating and the Rev. Weaver assisting. Burial will follow at Conrad Memorial Cemetery. Arrangements are by the Johnson Mortuary & Crematory.
