Fidelis Schmeidler, 76, Catherine Route, died Thursday, March 7, in St. Anthony Hospital. He was born May 17, 1908 in Ellis County to Frank and Marie (Langer) Schmeidler.
He married Josephine Gerstner, April 28, 1931 at Hays. She died Jan. 7, 1975.
He was a retired farmer and was a custodian at Fort Hays State University. He was a member of St. Catherine Catholic Church, Catherine.
Survivors include a son, John, Hays; a daughter, Sheila Bosch, rural Graham; two brothers, Bill and Anton, both of Hays; a sister, Angela Vogl, Greeley, Colo.; and three grandchildren.
Funeral services were at 2 p.m. Saturday in St. Catherine Church, Father Harvey Dinkel officiated; burial was in St. Joseph Cemetery, Hays.
Casket bearers were: Lawrence Schmeidler, Cyril Schmeidler, Leo Schmeidler, Bill Robinson, James Schmeidler, Ernic Schmeidler, Benno Staab, and John Gerstner.
