Beth J. Gurr Dies of Fall Hurts

Beth James Gurr, 77, 315 S. Canyon Avenue, Springville, died at a Provo hospital Monday following a fall at her home.

She was born Nov. 13, 1888 in Diez, Chihuahua, Mexico, a daughter of Joseph Henry and Elizabeth Bloomfield James.

On May 20, 1908 she married Wallace Marsh Gurr in Pacheco, Chihuahua, Mexico and the ceremony was later solemnized in the Salt Lake City LDS Temple.

She was active in the LDS Church, having worked in the Primary, Sunday School and Relief Society organizations. She had done considerable genealogical research and had worked for 12 years as an ordinance worker in the Salt Lake City Temple.

Survivors include her husband, Springville; eight sons and daughters, Wallace Gurr, Eugene Gurr, and Mrs. Omar (LaVon) Hansen, all of Springville; Mrs. Lyman (Margaret) Hamlin, Payson; Mrs. Virgil (Della) Baum, Spanish Fork; Mrs. David O. (Loa) MacKay, Salt Lake City; Mrs. Austin (Wanda) Barney, Ogden; Mrs. Dester (Beth) Wilberg, Orem.

Also surviving are 38 grandchildren, 29 great-grandchilden; and 14 brothers and sisters, Mrs. Oscar Hurst, Blanding; Joseph James, Salt Lake City; Mrs. Jonathan Ostler, Provo, Mrs. Harold Christensen, Pocatello, Ida.; Mrs. Lloyd Engel, Provo; Mrs. Joseph Porter, Stockton, Calif.; Mrs. Thomas Merrill, Phoenix, Ariz.; William James, Ogden; Mrs. James Helson, St. George; Elmer James, Farmington, N.M.; Abinadi James, Cottonwood, Ariz.; Mrs. Robert Gallager, and Mrs. Charles Bond, both of Phoenix, Ariz.; and Robert L. Jones, Palestine.

Funeral services will be held Thursday at 2 p.m. at the Wheeler Mortuary chapel in Springville. Friends may call there Wednesday from 6 to 8 p.m. or Thursday prior to time of services. Interment will be in the Provo City Cemetery.
