Naomi Ruth Thomas Cooper, 97, of Adams, formerly of Rockwood, died Saturday, Dec. 9, 2006, at her home.

Born Aug. 8, 1909, she was the daughter of Samuel R. and Effie Jane Thomas, both of whom preceded her in death. She was a homemaker and a member of the Whites Creek Baptist Church, Rockwood.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Cooper; sons, Alvin Cooper, Lewis C. Cooper, Donnie R. Cooper, Rolland D. Cooper, James W. Cooper and Lester Cooper; daughters, Nadine McCloud and Phyllis Hughett; and sisters, Gladys Moffit, Edith Speck, Katherine Monroe and Grace Babcock.

Survivors include grandchildren, Kim DeCarlo, Jeff Cooper, Lea Consley, Angie Hickey, Lori Delk, Jennifer Saunders, Christian Hughett, Valerie Brown, Paul Hughett and Andrew Hughett; 17 great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; sisters and brother-in-law, Marie and Todd Newport of Robbins, Lucille Sexton of Norma and Wanda Phillips of Elgin; and brothers, Kenneth Thomas of Sunbright and Gene Thomas of Robbins.

Funeral service was at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 12, in Evans Mortuary chapel, Rockwood, with the Rev. Hascue Carter and the Rev. Roger Britton officiating. Graveside service and burial were at Glen Alice Cemetery, Rockwood.
