OBITUARY :
CIVIL WAR VET, AGED 95, IS DEAD - Henry Clay Fleagle Succumbs At Thurmont Home.

SERVICES ON SATURDAY.

HENRY CLAY FLEAGLE, the last of the county's original Civil War veterans, died today at his home in Thurmont, eight days before Armistice Day, when he would have observed his ninety-fifth birthday.

Mr. Fleagle, whose remarkably good health had begun to fail in recent months, had been only partly conscious for the past week. He passed away quietly at 9 o'clock this morning at the home of his son, George W. Fleagle, of Thurmont, with whom he had made his home for the last ten years.

He was a son of the late David and Margaret Fleagle, who originally came from Holland. He was a member of the United Brethren church, Thurmont.

He was the last surviving member of Jason Damuth G. A. R. Post, Thurmont.

His wife, formerly Miss Lillie A. Creager, died two years ago. He is survived by one daughter, Mrs. Wilbur Freeze, Hagerstown; and the following sons: Gilbert P. Fleagle, Thurmont; George W. Fleagle, Thurmont; Charles D. Fleagle, Baltimore; Paul F. Fleagle, Hagerstown; and nineteen grandchildren and twenty great-grandchildren.

Mr. Fleagle was reported to be the last Civil War veteran in Frederick county, save one, Thomas H. Shelton, 95, of near Ladiesburg, who recently moved to this county from Washington county.

The funeral, Saturday afternoon at 3 o'clock from the home of Geo. W. Fleagle, Thurmont, will be with full military honors, in which the Emmitsburg and Frederick American Legicv posts will share. The uniformed World War veterans are expected to escort the funeral bier from the home to the U. B. cemetery, where final rites will be held. A volley will be fired by a firing squad from Company A. Maryland National Guard, and taps will be sounded. M. L. Creager and Son, funeral directors.
