Married at the Christian Parsonage

The marriage of Floyd Horton of Davenport and Miss Mamie Bruce occurred on Monday at high noon at the Christian parsonage, Rev. Ira Muon officiating. The young couple will go to housekeeping on a farm three miles east of Davenport. They have the best wishes of the community.

Services were held Tuesday, August 15, at 10 a.m. at the Megrue-Price Funeral Home Chapel. Rev. Wright Kahre officiated. Burial was in the Evergreen Cemetery.

Mayme Watson Horton, one of seven children of David and Mary Bruce, was born in Bland, Virginia on April 7, 1891, and passed away at Nelson, Nebraska, August 12, 1978, at the age of 87 years, 4 months, and 5 days. Mayme Watson Horton came to Nebraska on March 21, 1902, with her parents. She became a member of the Nora Methodist Church on March 15, 1908, and later became a member of the United Methodist Church of Superior.

Mayme was united in marriage to Floyd Horton on September 21, 1914. To this union two children were born, Doris Horton of Superior and Mae (Mrs. Ralph Mellott) of Superior. Other survivors include two grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, and one great great grandchild, and many nieces and nephews and many friends. She was a wonderful mother and grandmother. Preceding her in death were her husband, her parents, five sisters and two brothers.

Services were held Tuesday, August 15, 1978, 10:00 a.m. from the Megrue-Price Funeral Home Chapel, Superior, Nebraska. Rev. Dwight Kahre officiated. Pallbearers were Kevin Zadina, Kurt Zadina, Kraig Zadina, Alvin Schott, Lawrence Williams, Charles Stiles. Burial was in the Evergreen Cemetery, Superior, Nebraska. Megrue-Price Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
