Mary Stella Bruce, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. H.D. Bruce was born in Bland County, Virginia on June 4, 1887 and passed away at her home in Brighton, Colorado on May 24, 1965, at the age of 77 years 11 months and 21 days.

The family moved to Nebraska when she was 15 years of age. On March 12, 1908 she married Herman Stiles at Nelson, Nebraska. To this union were born four children, Bruce of Bostwick, Warren of Nora, Woodrow of Brighton, Colorado and Ruby of Arvada, Colorado. She lived in Nuckolls County until 1939 when they moved to Colorado to make their home. After several years of suffering she became seriously ill and despite medical help she passed away suddenly.

She retained her membership in the Nora Methodist Church until the time of her death. She had a firm belief in her faith and was a true Christian receiving much comfort from her Bible after she was unable to attend church because of her health. She was a kind and loving wife and mother and will be sadly missed by her husband, four children, eight grandchildren, sixteen great grandchildren, three sisters and one brother who survive.

Reverend Paul Kenyon officiated at the services held Friday, May 28, at the Megrue Funeral Home at Superior, Nebraska. Casket bearers were: Wilbur Williams, Charley Keim, Wayne Churchill, Guy Bruce, Clair Churchill and Donny Smith. Interment was in the Nora cemetery (sic).
