He was preceded in death by his parents, grandparents, wife 1921, one son John Hoffman in 1918 and two infant daughters Mae in 1893 and Anna in 1905 and an infant granddaughter Loretta Hoffman in 1920.
He was also preceded in death by his only sister Elizabeth and seven brothers Fred, Edward, William, George, Frank and Clarence and John in infancy.

Charles Hoffman, an old-time resident of Milnerville, died in Sioux City, Wednesday morning, July 12, if after having suffered a heart attack.
He had been a Sioux City resident for about twenty-five years, but was one of the old-timers of this locality, where he had farmed for many years.
He leaves four sons, Elmer, Clarence and George, all of whom live in the city, and Ray, who farms the old home place adjoining the Cassen farm.
The funeral was held Saturday from a Sioux City funeral home, and interment made in the Adaville cemetery, where other members of the family, including his wife and oldest son, John, Milnerville's only first world war casualty, are also buried.

CHARLES HOFFMAN FORMER RESIDENT TAKEN BY DEATH
Charles A. Hoffman, 78-year-old farmer, died Wednesday morning in his home, 216 Paxton Street, Sioux City, following a heart attack. He had resided in Sioux City 25 years.
For many years he farmed in Plymouth County.
Mr. Hoffman was born in Fremont, Colo., August 20, 1865. Surviving are four sons, Elmer, Clarence and George, all of Sioux City; and Ray of Westfield.
