LeRoy Bohanan
Roy Bohanan was taken very suddenly ill Monday, July 9th. He was probably over-heated and he never fully regained consciousness. Roy was repairing a car. He was taken to the home of his parents, Mr. and Mrs. William Bohanan and died Wednesday evening about 7 o’clock. Everything that was done that loving hands could do, but God called and Roy Bohanan answered the summons.
Mrs. Jack Bohanan, of Corning came Friday to attend the funeral of his nephew, Roy Bohanan.
LeRoy Bohanan, second son of Mr. and Mrs. William Bohanan, was born August 20, 1890 in Carl Township, Adams County, Iowa. He died July 11, 1917, being aged 26 years, 10 months, and 9 days. Roy as he was familiarly called, spent his lifetime in Adams County, having worked on the farm with his father, until his marriage, when he moved to Prescott, where he engaged in the automobile livery business. Although he had many friends before coming here, the number increased as he met more people, and few young men enjoyed the friendship and good will of as many people as did he. King and thoughtful to young and old, his is an example of young manhood which is surely commendable. On November 24, 1915, he was united in marriage to Miss Hazel Looney, of Prescott. To them was born one child, little Pauline. Besides his young wife and baby, he leaves to mourn his loss, his parents, Mr. and Mrs. William Bohanan; one brother, Glen, and one sister, Willa Goodwill, all of this city. One sister, Elva Pha, preceded him in death, having died in infancy. He has an aged grandfather, living in Corning. Many relatives and friends will be saddened by his departure. The passing of this young man came as a shock to our community and our hearts go out in sympathy to the bereaved relatives and friends. The funeral was preached Friday, July 13th, at 2 o’clock in the afternoon, by Rev. W. H. Smith, pastor of the Christian Church, at the church. A quartette furnished music. The flowers were profuse and beautiful. The Masons had charge of the services at the grave and attended the funeral in a body. The burial was at Mt. Zion. A large number of friends and relatives went from this place by auto.
