Betsy or Elizabeth Farnsworth Pierce was born to Abijah & Betsy (Peck) Farnsworth in Woodstock, Windsor, Vermont in 1802. She married Jared Pierce,Jr. 10 April 1828. He was the son of Jared & Elsa Pierce of Oswego,New York. Jared and Betsy had a family of five children.
The Beloit Gazette Newspaper Obituary, Thursday, April 1, 1897 ....under heading of
Scottsville Scintillations
"Death called from our midst, last Sunday night, the oldest person in this section in the person of Grandma Pierce, mother of Oliver Pierce. Mrs. Pierce was almost 95 years old at the time of her death. She is buried in Scottsville Cemetery (Kansas), the funeral ceremony being conducted by Rev. G. W. Werts."
