PARMERLEE HISTORY
The family of Marcus Beecher Parmelee came to Indiana from Connecticut with their mother Lois (Fairchild) Parmelee Shepard in the 1840s. James Clark Parmelee, son of Marcus and Lois Parmelee, moved westward before his siblings to Ohio. James Clark and Mary (Burgett) Parmelee were joined by his brother and sister-in-law, Marcus Hurlbutt and Rebecca Jane (Staples) Parmelee and by his sister and brother-in-law, Louise (Parmelee) and George Botsford. With their mother, they moved to the northern part of Indiana. Not finding it to their liking they came to Brown County which reminded them of Fairfield Co., CT.
