"An accident happened at Edinburg on Saturday morning which resulted in the death of J. C. Parmerlee, said to be the wealthiest citizen of Brown county. Mr. Parmerlee got off the train due at Edinburg at 1:25 A. M., and in walking alongside the train fell under the second car. The hinder truck of the second car and both trucks of the third passed over him, cutting off both legs and the fingers of one hand. He had just waked from sleep before getting off the train. He died from his injuries about 4 o'clock on Saturday morning. A cornoner's jury impanneled to hold an inquest over the body, returned a verdict censuring the company and employees for not stopping longer at the station. Mr. Parmerlee was about sixty-eight years of age and was held in the highest esteem by all who knew him."
