Biographical and Genealogical History of Cass, Miami, Howard and Tipton Counties, Indiana, Vol. I, 1898, p. 477. It states:

"When [Jesse Ware was] about twenty years of age he was married, in Howard [Henry, not Howard] county, to Phebe Moore, a native of Henry county, this state [Indiana], and a daughter of William Moore. Mr. Moore was a pioneer farmer of Henry county. His children were Philip, Hiram, Phebe, Sarah J., Caroline and Mary A. *** The children by his [Jesse] first wife [Phebe] were Sarah E., Mary J. and Sophia. Mrs. [Phebe Ware] died in Union township, Howard county, in June, 1855, and November 9, following, in Henry county, this state, Mr. [Ware] was married to Lucinda Main, who was born August 19, 1834, in that county, a daughter of Grant and Miranda (Robinson) Main. Her ancestry on both sides were of sterling English stock."

Jesse married (1) Phebe Moore 8 Jan 1846 in Henry county, Indiana. He had 3 daughters with her. He married (2) Lucinda Main on 29 Nov 1855 also in Henry county, Indiana.

Jesse was drafted into the US Civil War on 26 Oct 1864 and reported for duty on 10 Nov 1864.

The court gave guardianship of Rebecca E. Powell, minor heir of her father James Powell who was deceased, to Jesse Ware, on August 10, 1878. (Letter of Guardianship, State of Indiana, Howard County.)

Jesse was a member of the Greentown Methodist Episcoplal Church and held the office of Supervisor several times.

Headstone from the Greenlawn Cemetery, Greentown, Indiana. Headstone for Jesse states he died 27 Jul 1899, at 74Y 15D. Therefore, his birthdate was Tuesday, 12 Jul 1825. This cemetery used to be called the "Independent Order of Odd Fellows" or the I.O.O.F. Jesse is buried on lot #87, South half of the Old Part. There are normally 8 grave sites to a lot, but Jesse only had half a lot. Jesse Ware, Lucinda Main, Ellis Main and Elzina Ware are buried in those 4 grave sites.
