Calvin S. Wentzel, 80, of 1134 N. 10th St., died last night in St. Joseph's Hospital. He was born in Alsace Township and was a resident of Reading for 52 years.
Wentzel was employed in the P&R car shops for 50 years and has been retired for 15 years. He was a Spanish-American War veteran and a member of the Evangelical and Reformed denomination. Note: St. Stephen's Reformed Church.
Wentzel was also a member of the Eagles Mountain Home, Fraternal Order of Eagles, Eagles' Home Assn. and its relief association, P&R Relief Assn., Hunter Liggett Post, Court Progress No. 116, IOOF, and the Spanish-American War Veteran's Assn.
He was a son of the late Amos and Susan (Schildt) Wentzel. His wife Eva K. (Hafer) Wentzel died in 1938.
Surviving are a son, Herbert H., Reading; a daughter, May H., at home; two grandchildren; two brothers, Charles S., Stony Creek Mills, and Edward S., Pennside; Mrs. Carrie R Nice, Reading, and Mrs. Jennie Weaver, Hyde Park.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 1 p.m. in the Lutz Funeral Home, the Rev. John B. Zinn officiating. Burial will be made in Spies Cemetery.
