Edward S. Wentzel, 74, of Mount Laurel road, Temple, died Saturday in Berks County Tuberculosis Sanatorium.
Born in Lower Alsace Township, a son of the late Amos H. and Susan S. (Schildt) Wentzel, he had been engaged in farming prior to the onset of his illness. His wife, Emma R. (Conrad) died in 1957.
A member of Spies United Church of Christ, Wentzel is survived by five daughters: Alberta, wife of William Clark, and Erma, wife of Anthony Laguidara, both of Reading; Emily, wife of Arthur Hoster, Sinking Spring, R.D. 2; Myrtle, wife of Raymond Lebo, Shillington, and Katie, wife of Allen Delp, Temple.
Two sons: Lester, of Maple Grove, and Walter, of Reading, and 16 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
Also, three sisters: Mrs. Jennie Weaver, Hyde Park, and Mrs. Sue Hinnershitz and Mrs. Rebecca Nice, both of Reading.
Services will be held at the convenience of the family in the Milkins Funeral Home, Temple, the Rev. Paul L Rahn officiating. Burial will be in Spies Church Cemetery.
