ROANOKE, AL -- Funeral services for E. A. 'M' Hester, 82, of Route 2, Roanoke, were Thursday, October 21, 1993, at 2 p.m. from Quattlebaum Funeral Chapel with Rev Mickey Vaughn officiating. Burial was at Forrester's Chapel Methodist Church Cemetery.
Mr. Hester died Wednesday, October 20, 1993 at Lanier Memorial Hospital in Valley.
A Randolph County native, he was born February 2, 1911, son of Eli and Roxie Parker Hester. He owned and operated a retail grocery store. His wife, Elizabeth Hester, and a son, William Wallace Hester, preceded him in death.
Survivors include two daughters, Ms. Sarah Ann Hester and Mrs. Annia Shelnutt, both of Roanoke; two sons, Alvie D. Hester of Valley and Emily Calvin Hester of Opelika; four sisters, Mrs. Mary Will Alexander and Mrs. Jimmy Knight of Wadley, Mrs. Emma Phillips of Valley and Mrs. Ina Mae Mitchell; a brother, Bud Hester of Valley; and nine grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers were Sam Hester, Manley Knight, Frank Knight, Joe Knight, Lee Knight, Albert Eiland, Denny Cole and Clifford Knight.
Quattlebaum Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
