Joan H. Bunn
July 10, 1919-Sept. 27, 2007
Joan H. BUNN died peacefully of natural causes on Wednesday, Sept. 27, 2007. She resided at Hickory Creek in Rochester, Ind., since May of 2005.
Joan was born to Harley Hudson and Emma Francis Preiser Haggerty in Marion, Ind., on July 10, 1919. In 1941, Joan married Russell T. "Bud" Wade. Joan and Bud parented two children, Linda Lee and Wayne Allen. Bud was taken prematurely from her when he died in 1949. In 1951, Joan married Howard W. Bunn. Joan and Howard parented two children, Wendy Jo and John Timothy. Howard also died prematurely, having passed in 1956. Joan never remarried.
Joan was co-owner and an operator of Heisler's Drug Store in Rochester. She was elected to serve as Fulton County Treasurer from 1974 until 1982. She worked at C&W Fabricating from 1983 until her retirement in 1991.
Joan was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church. She dedicated her life to raising her children and showering her grandchildren and great-grandchildren with love. She was loved and will be missed.
Joan was preceded in death by her parents; two husbands; four sisters, Mildred Burkett, Louise Miller, Jean Walters Lewis and Mary Katherine Haggerty; one brother, Roy Haggerty; and one great-granddaughter, Rae Ann Shafer.
Joan is survived by her four children and their spouses: Linda and Les Shultz, Decatur, Ind.; Allen and Marilyn Wade, Rochester, Ind.; Wendy and Paul Shirley, Albuquerque, N.M.; and John "Tim" and Susan Bunn, Granbury, Texas. Survivors also include nine grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. Joan was blessed to have a special friend and wonderful roommate, Mary Beth Carroll at Hickory Creek. She was also well cared for and loved by the amazing staff at Hickory Creek.
A celebration of the life of Joan H. Bunn will be at 2 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 30, at Good Family Funeral Home with Pastor Dan Mundt officiating. Friends may visit with Joan's family from noon to 2 p.m.
Her family requests that those desiring to make donations please direct their contributions in her name to Hickory Creek of Rochester, or Hope Hospice Inc. of Fulton County. Envelopes are available at the funeral home. Electronic expressions of sympathy may be made to the family at [email protected].
