RIGBY, Idaho - Leila Ann Sherman Taggart, 81, of Rigby, passed away Friday, February 1, 2002, at the Caribou Memorial Living Center in Soda Springs. She was born May 13, 1920, at American Falls, Idaho, the daughter of James Albert and Mary Ethel Allen Sherman.

She attended all of her schooling in American Falls, Idaho, graduating from American Falls High School in 1938.

She married Jack Stanturf. They were later divorced.

She married Lyle Jasper Taggart August 31, 1946, in Meridian, Idaho. They were later sealed in the Idaho Falls Temple on August 31, 1951. Mr. Taggart passed away October 3, 1994.

She was a member of the LDS Church, serving in many positions throughout her lifetime. She and her husband served a one-year mission in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, in 1983-84. She was a faithful Temple worker for many years until bad health forced her to stop.

She loved to sew and crochet. One of her greatest joys was going shopping.

She worked for the ASCS Office in Rigby for many years, retiring in 1983.

Leila is survived by two sons, a stepson and two daughters, Lonnie and Maxine Taggart, Grace, idaho; Scott and Anna Taggart, Mackay, Idaho; Larry Taggart, Salt Lake City, Utah; Cheryl Priest, Rigby, Idaho; and Andrea Jill Maag, Mechanicsburg, Pa. Also surviving are 12 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren, one sister and one brother, Myrle Prather, American Falls, Idaho; and AA (Buddy) Sherman, Ladylake, Fla.

She was also preceded in death by son, Terry, and a grandson, Jason.

Funeral services will be conducted on Thursday, Feb. 7, 2002, at the Rigby LDS First Ward chapel with Bishop Rod Wallace officiating. Friends may call on Wednesday evening at the First Ward building from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. and on Thursday from 10:30 a.m. to 11:45 a.m. prior to services. Burial will be in American Falls at the Fallsview Cemetery. Services are under the direction of the Sims Funeral Home in Soda Springs.
