He was born December 15, 1958, in American Falls, Idaho to Lyle Jasper Taggart and Leila Sherman Taggart. The family moved to Rigby where he attended schools and graduated from Rigby High School. He continued his education by attending Idaho State University where he received an Associate Degree.
Scott was in law enforcement and served as Deputy Sheriff in Mackay and Teton Counties. He also worked at INL. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and riding his Harley.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Terry Stanturf; and 2 nephews, Jason Taggart and Brandon Maag.
Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, August 13, 2012, at the Grace Cemetery under the direction of Sims Funeral Home in Soda Springs.
