Sadie attended Sycamore elementery school in Noble Township with her siblings. The Knab children spoke only German at home and the other children poked fun at them for not being able to speak English. The Knab children quickly learned English and never spoke German away from home after that unless their parents were with them.
On 3 Mar 1900 Sadie married James Harvey Bailey in Jay County. Seven children were born to the couple: Erma Pinkey, Kenneth E, Orla R, Mabel M, Lewis, Virginia Helen, and Madonna Bailey.
Both widowed, Sadie and her sister Emma spent their last few years living across the alley from each other on Ship Street in Portland. Sadie died on 3 Aug 1972 in the Jay County Hospital in Portland.
