Henry "Jack" Jackson Boles, 77, of White Stone died Wednesday, November 26, 2008. He was retired as a Master Trooper with the Virginia State Police with 32 years service. Trooper Boles joined the Virginia State Police February 1, 1960 and after graduating from the Academy he served his entire career in Lancaster and surrounding counties. Prior to joining the Virginia State Police, he was employed by the Norfolk and Western railroad and served during the Korean Conflict in the U. S. Navy. He was a member of White Stone United Methodist Church serving a number of years as a former youth director, a member of Lancaster Union Lodge # 88 A.F. & A.M., and Richmond Scottish Rite Bodies. Trooper Boles gave many years of service to the White Stone Town Council and was currently a member of the R. A. Multi Jurisdictional Grand Jury of the Northern Neck. Among his many contributions to the local community, was coaching boys little league baseball with his son and for the past 15 years coaching girls little league in Lancaster County and junior varsity softball in Middlesex County with his daughter.
Surviving are his wife of 55 years, Jean Nannette Hammond Boles; a daughter and son-in-law, Bonnie J. Boles and Glen A. Abbott of White Stone; two sons, Kenneth W. Boles and Bruce A. Boles of White Stone; four grandchildren, Bristol B. and husband, Ernest J. Jr. Draleau of Danville, Brandi N. Boles of Lancaster, Ryan J. Boles and Rachel A. Boles both of Mathews; four great grandchildren, Dillan Loving, E. J. Draleau, III, Eli Draleau and Destiny Boles.
Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, November 29 at Currie Funeral Home, Kilmarnock with Rev. Bill Burroughs officiating. Interment will be in White Stone United Methodist Church Cemetery, White Stone with Honors rendered by the Virginia State Police. Pallbearers will be members of the Virginia State Police and Honoraries will be members of the girls softball teams he coached throughout the years. Friends may call 6 - 8 p.m. Friday, November 28, 2008 at the funeral home.
Memorials may be made to Rappahannock General Hospital Foundation, P. O. Box 1449, Kilmarnock, VA 22482.
