J. Earl CLARK, 40, R.R. 2, Rochester, died unexpectedly at 3 p.m. Sunday at his residence of a heart attack. He had been ill one year. Mr. Clark was superintendent of the Rochester Street department since last November and a member of the department eight years. He was born Dec. 18, 1930, at Athens, to Ruel CLARK and Bertha McGEE PFLEDDERER. His marriage was March 12, 1949, in Fort Wayne, to Louise SMITH, who survives. He was a member of the United Methodist church at Athens and the Eagles lodge in Rochester. Also surviving are four sons, Kent, Ricky and Ronnie [CLARK], all at home, and Earl Wayne [CLARK], with the U.S. Army, Union Lake, Mich.; his mother and step-father, Mr. and Mrs. Ed PFLEDDERER, R.R. 1, Kewanna; one brother, George CLARK, Rochester; one half-sister, Mrs. Robert (Patricia) THOMAS, Rochester; four half-brothers, John L. O'CONNOR Jr., Warsaw; John SWEET, Rochester; Jerry BEAIRD, Rochester, and Cyrus BEAIRD, R.R. 1, Kewanna. His father, a brother and one half-sister preceded in death. Final rites will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday in the Foster & Good funeral home. The Rev. C. J. MOWRER will officiate. Burial will be in the I.O.O.F. cemetery here. Friends may call at the funeral home. The family has requested that memorials other than flowers be made to the Heart Fund.
