Johnny farmed for a living, and he worked on the threshing crew with his brothers during harvest time. He helped install the pipeline in Blacksmith Fork Canyon.
In addition to being a homemaker, Alta has served in the auxiliaries of the LDS Church.
They are the parents of four children: John Edwin, Jr. (Elta Bellamy), Ramon Curtis (Patricia Brown), Sybil Jean (Junius Campbell) and Marlin Dale (Lurlene Bench).
