Retired from the Louisiana Banking Department and a longtime resident of Brusly, she died Wednesday, June 18, 2003, at 11:30 p.m. at Plaquemine Manor Nursing Home. She was 81 and a native of Winnfield. According to her wishes, her body will be cremated.

Survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Lloyd "Ronnie" Jr. and Patricia Witt Ellwood, Brusly; a sister, Lucy Howard, Tulsa, Okla.; two grandchildren, Susan and husband Jon Herrington, and Ronald Kevin Elwood; and five great-grandchildren, Elizabeth Blakely, Jon Morgan and Patrick Normand Herrington, all of Brusly, Kevin Cole Ellwood, Baton Rouge, and Bryce Michael Ellwood, Plaquemine.

Preceded in death by her husband of 55 years, Lloyd Ronald Ellwood Sr.; parents, Barion [sic Berrien] and Cleavey Brady Bailey; and a brother, John Bailey. She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star chapter in Port Allen. Memorial donations may be made to Alzheimer's Services, 2041 Silverside Drive, Baton Rouge, LA 70808. Wilbert Funeral Home, Port Allen, in charge of arrangements.
