John Wesley Hoffman was the oldest child born to Arleva Haynes and Henry Julius Hoffman. He was born in Osage County, MO. on January 13, 1885. He married Alice May Mason on December 24, 1913 in Cooper Hill, MO.
They had four children; 1 son and three daughters.

J.W. Hoffman, 81, Dies in Hospital

Funeral Services were conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday at Zion Lutheran Church in Owensville for John Wesley Hoffman, 81, who died Thursday in St. Francis Hospital, Washington, MO.
The Rev. S.J. Lehmann officiated. Burial was in Owensville City Cemetery. Mr. Hoffman was born at Freedom, January 13, 1865, the son of Henry and Arleva Haynes Hoffman. He was married at Cooper Hill, Dec. 24, 1913 to Miss Alice May Mason. She survives. Also surviving are four daughters, Mrs. Marie Vandegriffe and Miss Dorris Hoffman of Owensville, Mrs. Margaret Baider, University City and Mrs. Jessie Lou Horstmann, St. Louis. Also surviving are two sisters, Mrs. Ray Brandriff, St. Louis and Mrs. Elizabeth Patterson, Searcy, Ark.; two brothers, Charles Hoffman, Wentzville and Luester Hoffman, Linn: seven grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
