When he returned to Missouri, he had his son with him, as he and his wife had divorced. His mother (Arleva Haynes Hoffman) helped him raise his son, until he re-married. She was his first cousin, the daughter of an already deceased mother (Margaret Holloway) and William Wesley Haynes. Her name was Edith Haynes Aubuchon, and she had 3 daughters from a previous marriage to this Aubuchon fellow.
So, Charles and Edith never had any children of their own, but did raise the four they had from their first marriages.
Edith died in the early 60's, and Charlie followed her some years later. Charles or Charlie lived the last years of his life in the Wentzville, MO. area, with Edith's daughters. His son, Robert, was at one time, the police chief in Hazelwood, MO.
For some reason, people referred to him as Huffman, not Hoffman, which was the correct spelling of the name. Please note his name on the obituary.
