In about 1856 she married Jackson Manley and in 1857 their first child, Rosetta Jane was born. About that time they left New York for the rich farmlands of Monroe County, Wisconsin. There, they had seven more children: Julia Anna (1858), Emma Jean (1860), George Andrew (1866), Harriet May (1868), Frank James (1871), Cora Viola (1875), and Nellie Maude (1879).
About the time Nellie was born, Charlotte and Jackson separated and eventually divorced. Despite this, they are buried together, along with their granddaughter, Grace, at Lakeview Cemetery, in Eau Claire.
