Press Jennings, 66, died Monday, January 17, in the Paintsville Hospital after an illness of several days. Mr. Jennings was born March 17, 1910, in Johnson County, the son of the late Kanawha and Cora Preston Jennings. He was a resident of Van Lear, a retired miner and a member of Union Local 187. Surviving are his wife, Maude Bell Jennings, whom he married February 16. 1929, five sons, Charles of Centerville, VA, Paul, Robert, Roger, and Charles Jefferson, all of Van Lear; two daughters, Barbara Travis of Fairborn, OH and Shelby Jean Gearhardt of Centerville, OH; a brother, Lafe Jennings of Wellston, OH, four sisters, Lydia Wetzel of Wellston, OH, Effie Hugg and Ethel Wells, both of Meally and Virginia Daniels of tomahawk; 15 grandchildren and four great grandchildren. Funeral services were held Thursday, January 20, in the Buffalo United Baptist Church at Meally with Walter Wells, Nim Sturgill and Florida Lyons as officiating ministers. Burial was in the family cemetery at Meally with Paintsville Funeral Home handling arrangements. Paintsville Herald, Wednesday, January 26, 1977
