Son of Benjamin Easley and Mary Murphree.

William Easley was born in Tennessee, 13 Feb 1813. He came to Talladega County before his 20th birthday. The County was formed 29 Apr 1832; thereby making William one of the first settlers. William was appointed census taker 6 May 1833 and appointed apportioners of hands in Captain Calwell's beat in Sept 1834. At this same time he was appointed on a jury of review to makr out a road from the upper corner of Morris' field to Talladega.

William and his brother, Benjamin, were quite active in the settlement of Talladega County, the battle with the Creek Indians had been settled, and the country was being settled fast.

On September 8, 1836, William Easley married Emily Alice Ellington, a younger sister of Dewie (Dewey) Ellington, who was later married to Susan Lynn Morris.

In 1845 William Easley was elected sheriff of Talladega County. Willliam Easley's wife Emily Alice Ellington was born, December 27, 1819, in Abbeyville, South Carolina, daughter of John Ellington, whose father was Jerimiah Ellington of Abbeyville, South Carolina.

William and Emily's children were all born in Talladega, Alabama.
