"DEATH OF DR A P WAID AT BUFFALO, NY, MONDAY - Funeral Will Be Held at Spartansburg, Wednesday Afternoon at 2 O'clock - BUFFALO, NY, Dec 21 - [Special] - Dr A P Waid of this city died at 5:40 o'clock this afternoon. Funeral services will be held at Spartansburg, Pa, on Wednesday, Dec 23, at 2 pm. - Dr A P Waid was for years a practicing physician in Crawford county. He was first located at Centreville, where he was married to Miss Margaret Eberman, a daughter of the late Rev George Eberman, a prominent Methodist divine. She was also a sister of Mrs Fred Clark, wife of the well known Centreville hardware dealer. Dr Waid's practice in the country surrounding Centreville was of large proportions. He was a particularly active man, riding long distances in the severest weather to care for his patients and minister to their welfare. After his removal to Spartansburg, at the end of several years, he still maintained much of his Centreville practice. He was popular with people of all classes and was the typical kind-hearted country practitioner, revered hardly less in his own family than by the neighborhood in which he was upon occasion the most important figure. It is believed that his first illness dated from an accident at Spartansburg during a fire several years ago. He was driving from under a shed where his horse was tied, when a man fighting the fire from the top of the shed, fell upon him and severely injured his back. After years of experience had made Dr Waid one of the best doctors in this part of the state, he was invited to Buffalo as a physician in the World's Dispensary, owned and managed by Dr R V Pierce, himself a product of Venango county. His success continued in the new position. Two or three years ago he was obliged to discontinue work and during much of the time since then has been an invalid, wheeled from place to place in his chair. He was a prominent church man, benevolent and disposed to give of his ample means for charitable purposes. He is survived by his widow, but no children were born to the union. Stephen Waid of Warren is a brother, and Dr J M Waid of this city is a second cousin of the deceased."
