John P. Gramling
John Paul Gramling died suddenly Saturday morning at his home in Adams Township, this county. He had not been well for some time and could not sleep. At 12 o'clock Friday night he got out of bed, dressed himself, and went down stairs. His wife fell asleep a short time after he left the bedroom, and at 5:30 o'clock on the following morning found him dead in the kitchen. He was seated in an arm chair and had all his clothes on except his hat. Heart disease was the cause of his death.
J. P. Gramling was in his forty-fourth year. He was born at Gramling's Mills, near South Fork, and was a son of George and Catharine Paul Gramling, of Dale Borough. The deceased has resided on the farm adjoining the old homestead during the past three years.
Mr. Gramling is survived by his wife and seven children - Albert, of South Fork; George, Elmer, Roscoe, Bertha, Clara, and Edith. He is also survived by his parents and the following brothers and sisters: Solomon L. and Daniel, of Dale Borough, Charles E., of the Seventh Ward, Johnstown; William H., of Windber; Amanda, wife of John Gillman, of Adams Township, and Barbara, wife of C. L. Wissinger, and Catharine, wife of J. S. Stutzman, both of Dale Borough.
The funeral took place at 10 o'clock yesterday morning from the Mt. Hope United Evangelical Church, of which the deceased was a member. The Rev. M. Borger, assisted by the Rev. J. Q. A. Curry, of South Fork, and the Rev. F. D. Ellenberger, of Dale Borough, conducted the obsequies. Interment was made in the Church cemetery. The deceased was a member of the Mt. Hope Church for fifteen years.
