Bessie Sanders, 97, of LaGrange died Monday, September 15, 2008, at Crisp Regional Nursing and Rehab Center, Cordele.
Mrs. Sanders was born July 24, 1911, in Pell City, AL, daughter of the late David Cornelius Karr and Ida Bell Funderburg Karr. She had lived in LaGrange most of her life and was a member of Sunnyside Baptist Church where she taught Sunday School for many years. Mrs. Sanders was retired from West Point Pepperell as a cloth room inspector and was preceded in death by her husband, Wallace Sanders, sisters, Lucille Alford, Eva Bennett, Frances Looney, and Janet McMillian, and brothers, W.T. (Skinner) Karr, Cecil Karr, and Donald Karr.
Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, Larry and Sybil Sanders of Cordele; two grandchildren, Susan Mills of Byron, and Barry Sanders and his wife, Sheila Sanders of Macon; and three great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Wednesday, September 17, 2008, at Striffler-Hamby Mortuary Chapel, LaGrange, GA with Reverend S. T. Janney and Reverend Jimmy McMillian officiating. Burial will follow in Shadowlawn Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home Wednesday from 1:00 to 2:00 P.M.
