Emma N. Sears died April 3 in Eugene at the age of 77. Funeral services were held yesterday morning Wed. at Mills Mortuary in Cottage Grove. Mrs. Sears was born Nov 21, 1896 in Dexter. She was married Jan 1, 1918 in Eugene to George R. Sears, who died in 1966. She was a member of the Presbyterian Church in Creswell. She was also a member of the Rebekah Lodge and the Delight Valley Garden Club. Mrs. Sears is survived by daughter Violet Bales of Canby, son Robert Sears of Cottage Grove, 5 grand-children and 5 ggrandch., 2 sisters, Mary Mooney and Evalene Gish of Fall City. Interment was in the Walker Cemetery. Those who wish may donate to the Cottage Grove Heart Monitor Fund.
NOTE:
Emma Bowen Sears bore no children, but adopted a son and daughter, Robert and Violet. They both married and had children of their own. Daughter Violet Bales was born 9 DEC 1912. She married Elwyn Laurence Bales.
