Mr. Roderick A. “Rod” Shade, 44, of 13743 Welty Road, Waynesboro, PA who died September 11, 2005 as the result of a fishing accident in New York. His body was never recovered.
Born February 12, 1961 in Waynesboro, he was the son of Donald E. Shade of the same address and the late Peggy J. (Whitlock) Shade. He was a life long resident of the Waynesboro area.
Rod graduated from the Waynesboro Area Senior High School with the class of 1979.
He was employed in his early life by A.C. Dukehart & Sons, Waynesboro as a painter, and then worked for Grove-Worldwide in Shady Grove, PA as a welder. For the past 20 years, he was a self-employed contractor under the name of R.A. Shade Dry Walling.
He was a member of the Waynesboro Fish and Game Association.
He was an avid fisherman and hunter.
In addition to his father, he is survived by his fiancée of 23 years, Julie A. Biser of 158 N. Oller Avenue, Waynesboro and a number of aunts, uncles and cousins.
In addition to his mother, he was preceded in death by a brother, Timothy C. Shade who died in 1983.
Memorial services will be held at 1:00 P.M. Saturday, March 11, 2006 in the Waynesboro Church of the Brethren, 117 S. Church Street, Waynesboro with Rev. C. Albert Guyer officiating.
Family will receive friends one hour prior to services in the church.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to: Shriner’s Hospital for Crippled Children, in care of, Zembo Temple, 2801 North Third Street, Harrisburg, PA 17110 or Waynesboro Church of the Brethren, 117 S. Church Street, Waynesboro, PA 17268.
Grove-Bowersox Funeral Home, Waynesboro was in charge of the arrangements.
