Bertha Worsham, daughter of Joe and Maggie Susan Mitchum Hearon, born in Whitehouse, Texas on old Route #6, Troup (then Troupe) approximately 2 miles south on Willingham Road (named for Dr. Willlingham whose large house was located on the corner of Willingham Rd. and highway 346 in Whitehouse).

Bertha was the oldest of six children born to Joe and Maggie, one of the six being John Henry who died at an early age of diphtheria. She married James Reggie Worsham at the age of 16 and together they had five children. Their firstborn was a baby son, stillborn, then James Reggie Worsham, Jr. (Junior, as he was known), Betty Ruth Worsham, Bob Worsham and Alice Sue Worsham. All five of their children were born in the Whitehouse area. Then about the time of WWII, Reggie found work in the shipyards in Orange, Texas. They moved to Orange, and some time after the war, Reggie found work at a paper mill. He worked there until he retired, even after he lost his arm in an accident at the mill.
Bertha continued to live in the Orange area until she moved in the late 1990's or early 2000's to be near her daughter Betty Ruth in Baton Rouge, La.

Her siblings were: E. Leroy Hearon, Vestal Hearon, John Henry Hearon, Moline Hearon Jones and Richard Hearon. She also had three half brothers and one half sister: Arthur, Alvin, Andrew and Allie Hearon.

Her funeral was held near Orange at Claybar Funeral Home Chapel and she is buried in Hillcrest Memorial Gardens, also near Orange, Tx.
